History

Uganda shows archaeological evidence of habitation dating back 50,000 to 100,000 years ago. Multiple cultures resided in the region and passed their histories down through rich oral traditions. Uganda is home to a large portion of Lake Victoria. The fertile soil of Uganda provides much of Africa with produce. Uganda is known for the vast natural habitats of many animals such as birds, gorillas, and elephants. Turbulent leadership changes during the 19th and 20th centuries challenged the Ugandan people. Despite the political stresses, Uganda culture remains strong.
